About The Position

School & Community Liaison The Croton-Harmon Union Free School District has an anticipated opening for a School and Community Liaison. The candidate must be able to speak, read and write in both Spanish and English. The expected duties are: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support students and families Support the relationship between the Croton-Harmon School District and the public by demonstrating courteous and professional behavior when interacting with students, parents, visitors, and school staff; maintain absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, client records, and school information Provide information about resources in the community, if needed, such as: Croton Caring, Croton Free Library (English Conversational Class for Parents), Neighbor's Link, Open Door (if applicable) Connect families with adult education resources Support college/post-secondary meetings with students/families Foster library connections - encourage parents to get a card and visit frequently, especially with younger children, share events/program notifications/bulletins, etc. Provide overview of a copy of the Student Code of Conduct in Spanish/respective language Attend Parent Teacher Conferences, Back to School Night and school orientations and provide interpretation Support families during the registration process. This responsibility includes assisting parents in understanding and the completion of all necessary paperwork to proceed with new enrollment of students in the school district. Assists in the organization of Home Language parent surveys and verification of correct information on forms Supports Spanish speaking parents with the completion and submission of applications for necessary enrollment and renewal forms for free/reduced lunches Distribution of pertinent information during phone conferences, Committee on Special Education (CSE) meetings and school-wide events Facilitates communication with parents/guardians of Spanish speaking students Provide individual contact and follow-up to students and families to encourage home school connections Contact families of students with attendance issues and to schedule Parent Teacher Conferences quarterly Contact families of students such as calls home, phone calls to the school from parents (so that there is someone available who can interpret for them) Available to assist counselors or psychologists with student/family situations Interpretation of written documentation for Spanish Speaking families Understand, explain, and apply relevant rules, regulations, policies, and procedures related to the provision of a public education Support families in navigating online /digital platforms in Spanish $30-$32/hr for a flexible 26 hour work week Croton-Harmon School District embraces diversity in our workplace and in our schools.
