About The Position

National Youth Advocate Program is accepting internship applications for our STAR (School Based) team in our Columbus region. Working with the STAR team, you will gain hands-on experience working with youth in schools and in the community. You will also rotate through various other therapeutic areas throughout the agency to gain insight to the communities and clients we serve. This position works closely with youth, family, foster parents, and community partners. Enrollment in a Master level Social Work or Master’s level clinical Counseling program required

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or comparable Human Services field from an accredited institution.
  • Enrolled in an accredited institution for a Master’s Degree in Social Work or Master’s in Clinical Counseling
  • An internship or field placement is a requirement by the institution.
  • Upon the completion of the internship, the individual would receive credit toward their pursued degree.
  • LSW, SWT or CT licensure required
  • You must be 21 years of age on the first day of your internship
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Reliable personal transportation
  • Good driving record
  • Minimum automobile insurance coverage of $100,000/$300,000 bodily injury liability
  • Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smart phones and tablets, printers, fax machines and photocopiers as well as software including word processing, spreadsheet and database programs.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in direct service with youth and families strongly preferred.
  • A willingness to work flexible and non-traditional hours
  • Capacity to remain objective and professional in all areas of job function.

Responsibilities

  • Providing appropriate individual, group, and family mental health services, case management, transportation, and other professional services, meeting or exceeding established outcomes thresholds on behalf of persons served.
  • Traveling as needed, to provide community-based services to youth and families in compliance with organizational, contract, and regulatory requirements.
  • Completing all required documentation in a timely manner.
  • Completing all required training in a timely manner.
  • Coordinating and monitoring services for the youth and family in the community for mental health, medical, educational, psychological, vocational, and social services.
  • Regularly reviews and modifies youth-based plans to assure consistent progress and success on written plan goals.
  • Actively participates in the weekly supervision process.
