About The Position

Social Work Internship NYAP - Foster Care Internship: Columbus, OH National Youth Advocate Program is accepting internship applications for the Summer, 2026 and Fall, 2026 to our Foster Care team. In this role you will get hands on experience working with the foster care population. During your internship with NYAP, you will also be given the opportunity to rotate into other departments within our agency to gain a more complete understanding of the work our agency does. This opportunity is for students enrolled in a Bachelor -or- Master of Social Work Program from an accredited College or University. Your Internship Experience may include: Working with foster care youth and foster parents Working in case management Learning diagnostics assessments and treatment plans Assessing and engaging with youth Observing interventions for youth Interacting with caregivers, parents, foster parents, school staff, office staff and other mental health professionals Learning documentation and paperwork. Traveling daily, to provide community-based services to youth and families. Interacting with caregivers, parents, foster parents, school staff, office staff and other mental health professionals

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in either a Bachelor of Social Work or Master of Social Work Program from an accredited College or University
  • An internship or field placement is a requirement by the institution. Upon the completion of the internship, the individual would receive credit toward their pursued degree.
  • Must be 21 years of age at the start of the internship
  • LSW or SWT licensure required for master’s interns
  • Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smart phones and tablets, as well as software including word processing, spreadsheet and database programs.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Reliable personal transportation
  • Good driving record
  • Minimum automobile insurance coverage of $100,000/$300,000 bodily injury liability
