About The Position

The Program Director will oversee the program's day-to-day operation. The chosen candidate will also have experience working with children with emotional and behavioral challenges in a school setting. The Program Director will be responsible for the following:

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Special Education, Applied Behavior Analysis, or a related field.
  • Experience working with children with emotional and behavioral challenges.
  • Experience working in a school setting.
  • Experience implementing social skills, life skills, and emotional programming.
  • Experience providing professional development and staff training.
  • Experience working collaboratively with school leadership and staff to address student behavioral health.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practices.
  • Understand regulations/compliance statutes related to special education, compulsory attendance, and high-level student conduct.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with school leadership, staff, parents, and students.
  • Trained as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP).
  • All appropriate clearances, including FBI Criminal Background Check, Wisconsin State Police Background Criminal Check, and Child Abuse Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Managerial or supervisory experience is strongly preferred.
  • Preference will be given to bilingual individuals.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the liaison between the school district, students’ resident schools, and the program.
  • Developing, reviewing, and updating a rigorous academic curriculum aligned with Common Core, Wisconsin, and Milwaukee Public Schools’ standards.
  • Work collaboratively with school psychologists from students’ resident schools to review student evaluations and IEPs.
  • Assist in developing student IEPs.
  • Conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs).
  • Develop individualized positive behavior plans with Special Education Teachers and Licensed Mental Health Professionals.
  • Provide training to classroom staff on evidence-based practices.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings to discuss student goals, progress, and interventions.
  • Establish a rewards program designed to incentivize desired behaviors and outcomes.
  • Developing, reviewing, updating, and implementing policies and procedures to maintain the safety and well-being of students and staff.
  • Assess and determine the outcomes of behavioral incidents.
  • Lead the collection and reporting of student outcome data.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for parents and caregivers.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with parents and caregivers.
  • Managing all program logistics, including coordinating transportation, food service, and program operations with Milwaukee Public Schools.
  • Working with MPS staff to coordinate students’ transitions in and out of the program.
