About The Position

The Master Scheduler arranges for the efficient and orderly scheduling of all patients while also ensuring that patient information is collected and that patients are aware of hospital policies and procedures. Scheduling clerks interview incoming calls and enters information required for admission into computer data base, while also distributing information to ancillary departments. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills to provide service appropriate to age of the patient over phone. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and poses the ability to assess data reflective of the patients' status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patients' requirements relative to his or her age specific needs, and to provide the service needed as described in the unit's policies and procedures and skills check list.

Requirements

  • Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills to provide service appropriate to age of the patient over phone.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and poses the ability to assess data reflective of the patients' status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patients' requirements relative to his or her age specific needs, and to provide the service needed as described in the unit's policies and procedures and skills check list.
  • Must have professional appearance, good communication skills, friendly personality, and a positive attitude.
  • Must follow oral and written instructions and be able to maintain a pleasant personality under pressure.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Arranges for the efficient and orderly scheduling of all patients
  • Ensures patient information is collected
  • Ensures patients are aware of hospital policies and procedures
  • Interviews incoming calls and enters information required for admission into computer data base
  • Distributes information to ancillary departments
  • Obtains Authorization for add on same day procedures.
  • Quotes and collects on self-pay scheduled procedures as self-pay is out of scope for the Patient Assistance Center (PAC).
  • Works the Patient Index File of incoming orders and ensure they are archived to the appropriate account.
