Join our team to deliver terrifying chills and thrills as dusk descends and the creatures of the night awaken. AUDITION REQUIRED – See information below! Alumni Auditions are for INVITED SCARE SQUAD ALUMNI ONLY. If you did not receive an email invitation, please visit our auditions or careers page to apply for a general audition. Invited Scare Squad Alumni should follow the emailed instructions to register for Alumni Auditions, including completing this application and all registration forms and sign-ups. Current Busch Gardens or Water Country USA Ambassadors must audition on 7/23/26 or 7/25/26 and are therefore ineligible to audition at Alumni Auditions. Please apply internally for these dates, accessed via “Career Opportunities” on SEA Port. Howl-O-Scream 2026 runs Friday, September 11th - Sunday, November 1st. What you get to do: Be a part of award-winning Scare-event performances and provide a top-notch quality scare product to our seasoned guests and first-time visitors. Limited opportunities to participate in employee-only events such as ride nights & special event previews. Enjoy employee discounts and complimentary tickets to all United Parks and Resorts (except Discovery Cove). Explore opportunities for leadership roles (i.e. Captain). Make lifelong friendships and join a legendary Entertainment Family. What it takes to succeed: Must be at least 16 years old. Our performers entertain our guests in various ways, including but not limited to actors, costumed characters or specialty talent (such as stilt-walking and bungee harness). Must attend a live audition. We are looking for outgoing performers who can tell a story through their performance. Must have great showmanship. Roles may be based on characteristics such as height, physical type, gender, and any other attribute that aligns with the creative vision for our Howl-O-Scream characters. Be a team player and have a positive attitude. Participate in all physical and vocal warmups and cool downs. Ability to stand, sit, kneel, crawl, lay down, and/or jump up repeatedly for duration of shift. Flexibility in schedule and availability for the duration of the event. Must be able to work long sets (multiple hours) doing repetitive movement and vocalizations. Must be able to wear make-up and/or masks. Must be comfortable working in dark conditions, extreme temperatures, and around theatrical effects such as stage fog, lighting effects, and sound effects. Actors - Great stage presence and interactive comedic skills that excel at improvisation. Actors perform in multiple high-energy shows per day, on our stages and streets, to connect with our guests and create memories that last a lifetime. Costumed Characters - Personable, animated people with fun, outgoing personalities to bring Sesame Street® characters to life. Share the joy of entertaining children and other guests as a costumed character by greeting guests, shaking hands, posing for pictures, and giving hugs. Costumed character performers also act as a character escort to assist with guest interactions. Dancers - Demonstrate technical proficiency in a variety of styles including jazz, musical theatre, ballet, and modern. Partnering skills, break dancing, tumbling, tap, or other specialties are a plus. Dancers perform in multiple high-energy shows per day to connect with our guests and create memories that last a lifetime. Event Performers - Bring our special and seasonal events to life such as Event Host, Culinary Performers and Santa's Helpers. Instrumentalists - Proficient in percussion, brass, woodwinds or guitar. All instrumentalists should have the ability to play varying styles ranging from pop/rock to Motown to gospel and must be able to memorize music for shows and perform with great stage presence. Scare Squad - Enthusiastic performers, who are passionate about Halloween, to add fun and scary excitement to our award-winning Howl-O-Scream events. Vocalists - Great energy and stage presence who can demonstrate technical proficiency in a variety of styles including pop, rock, musical theatre, classical, contemporary, and a cappella vocal styling. Capacity to hear/sing harmonies is a must. Sight reading skills are not required but are preferred. Vocalists perform in multiple high-energy shows per day to connect with our guests and create memories that last a lifetime. How should I prepare for my audition? You will be asked to learn a dance combination and participate in improve and athletic stamina exercises. Costumed character auditions are based primarily on movement, non-verbal communication, and physical coordination. Please arrive early enough to stretch and warm up before the audition begins. Please wear form fitting dance attire that allows a full range of movement and tennis or jazz shoes. Please do not wear jeans.
