About The Position

Interfor is seeking energetic and enthusiastic team players to join our team as a Saw Filer in Monticello, Arkansas. Starting rate for this position is $28.36 per hour with the potential to grow based on skill level and experience. What You’ll Do Repairs saw blades (sawmill and planer mill) according to customer's or manufacturer's specifications, using hand tools, machine tools, and welding equipment: Examines saw for defects. Cuts broken teeth from the saw. Brazes or welds crack in saw blades. Forms teeth on saw blades by beveling joints on grinder and welding or brazing them together. Straightens twists and kinks in blades, using straightening press, and hammers out dents in blade on metal table. Adjusts cutting width of teeth, using swage or special pliers. Computes number and angle of teeth to produce specified cut. Clamps blade in saw-filing machine and turns hand wheel to adjust distance between teeth, angle of bevel, and depth of cut of file or abrasive wheel. Starts machine that automatically grinds and files saw teeth. Perform preventive maintenance on machinery. Change saws and guides on sharp chain and gang. Make and grind guides. Shave guides for Sharp Chain. Grind knives for all machines that require knives. Adhere to all safety regulations especially applicable to lockout/ tag-out. Perform any other work-related task deemed necessary by the supervisor. Adhere to all safety policies and perform tasks in safe, responsible manner. Understand and adhere to all company practices applicable to employees (such as Attendance, Call-Ins, Conduct, etc.). Any other tasks deemed necessary by the Leadership staff.

Requirements

High School Diploma/Equivalent Preferred.
Prior manufacturing/warehouse/lumber operations experience preferred.
Able and willing to work in varying seasonal climate conditions.
Knowledge of tools, materials, methods, and standard practices of the Saw Filer’s trade.
The hazards and safety precautions of the saw filer’s trade.
Ability to learn job-related material primarily through oral instructions and observation. This learning takes place mainly in an on-the-job training setting.
3-5 years in lumber operations.
Team-oriented with a strong commitment to excellence in everything you do.
Demonstrated commitment to safety.
Excellent attendance record.
Physical Requirements: Walking, standing, climbing, bending and lifting up to 50 lbs.
