About The Position

Responsible for collecting, transporting, and disposing of waste materials from residential properties, ensuring cleanliness, following safety protocols, and maintaining the proper operation of sanitation equipment.

Requirements

Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions.
Ability to utilize a personal computer and email.

Responsibilities

Participate in the manual collection of household refuse, special/bulky refuse, bagged yard waste, and food compost from residential properties.
Dump and/or compact solid waste materials.
Exercise precautionary safety measures when collecting solid waste and dumping solid waste.
Adhere to all safety guidelines while operating the garbage truck and handling waste, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Responsible for cleaning and operating the trash packer lever.
Follow designated routes and schedules to ensure efficient waste collection.
Participate in seasonal leaf collection and snow removal when needed.
Properly identify and dispose of hazardous waste materials.
Stay informed about local sanitation regulations and disposal procedures.
Responsible for ensuring that assigned trucks are properly loaded in accordance with the manufacturer’s manual and the City’s regulations.
Occasionally clean storm sewers, and sweep streets, and curbs.
Remove debris and litter from alongside the creek. DO NOT ENTER CREEK ALONE.
Provide exceptional customer service to all residents; listen to public complaints and follow up on problems identified by the public.
Perform other duties as assigned.
