About The Position

The Sanitation Manager is responsible for implementing and maintaining plant sanitation programs, ensuring compliance with Company standards, and continuously improving sanitation methods and equipment performance. This role involves auditing sanitation processes, overseeing Master Sanitation programs, and collaborating with management and staff to plan work, troubleshoot issues, and prevent problems. The manager will also manage relationships with outside vendors, provide supervision, training, and performance management for assigned employees, and lead by example in adherence to company policies and ethics. The position requires adaptability, strong communication, organizational skills, and the ability to lead a team.

Requirements

  • Possesses a working knowledge of sanitation operations; maintains knowledge of current and developing sanitation techniques.
  • Associate's degree or equivalent or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be able to travel 20% of the time.
  • Must be able to regularly stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, bend, talk or hear. Must regularly be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to understand other software (Sharepoint, Nova Timekeeping).
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs; ability to lead others through change.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Skill in organization and prioritization, and attention to detail.
  • Strong team player and leader with the ability to work across multiple functions and disciplines.
  • Ability to coach, develop, engage and retain a team of employees.

Responsibilities

  • Implements and maintains plant sanitation programs and ensures compliance with Company standards as stated in the Manual and Company directives.
  • Periodically audits sanitation and layered audit processes to ensure compliance with contractor/standard agreement.
  • Implements and oversees plant Master Sanitation programs.
  • Works with management to plan and schedule work of supervised staff to meet sanitation schedules while maximizing productivity.
  • Collaborates with staff to troubleshoot and analyze sanitation-related issues.
  • Recommends measures to continuously improve sanitation methods, equipment performance, and quality of products produced and distributed by the plant.
  • Manages relationships with outside vendors such as the chemical suppliers.
  • Collaborates with supervisors to coordinate activities to identify, solve and prevent problems affecting sanitation.
  • Provides supervision of assigned employees in scheduling and daily activities, ensuring effective selection, retention, feedback, disciplinary action and performance management. If a collective bargaining agreement exists, may participate grievances or other contract related activities and discussions.
  • Trains and instructs employees in regard to sanitation standards and objectives. Oversees instruction, implementation and enforcement of policies as they relate to employees.
  • Leads by example with the company and contractor Code of Ethics. This includes following Company policies, standards and specifications.
  • Engages in the typical responsibilities of a manager requiring planning, evaluating, organizing, integrating and delegating.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
