About The Position

The Sanitation Manager leads all sanitation programs and sanitation-related facility services in an FDA-regulated dry food packaging environment. This role is responsible for food safety compliance, people leadership, vendor oversight, documentation, budget ownership, and audit readiness. It is a hands-on management role with significant ownership and accountability.

Requirements

  • Sanitation leadership experience in an FDA-regulated food or food packaging facility preferred
  • Knowledge of dry sanitation principles, cGMPs, and food safety compliance
  • Experience managing teams, vendors, budgets, and sanitation data
  • Strong organizational, analytical, communication, and follow-up skills
  • Flexible support of off-shift operations as needed

Responsibilities

  • Lead sanitation programs in compliance with FDA, cGMP, SQF, and internal food safety standards
  • Maintain and execute Master Sanitation Schedules (MSS) and SSOPs for a dry facility
  • Manage sanitation verification activities including ATP, inspections, documentation, and corrective actions
  • Lead, train, and hold sanitation teams accountable for performance and food safety
  • Own sanitation-related audits, inspections, and follow-up actions
  • Control and maintain the sanitation budget, including chemical spend, vendor costs, and labor efficiency
  • Track, trend, and chart sanitation data (SUCO efficiency, ATP, deviations, MSS completion, audit findings) to drive continuous improvement
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions for sanitation failures
  • Partner with Operations, Quality, Safety, and Maintenance on sanitation-related equipment and facility issues
  • Serve as the primary owner for sanitation-related vendors and service providers, including: • Chemical suppliers (cleaners, sanitizers, and specialty sanitation chemicals) • Pest Control (Rentokil) • Uniforms, gowning, mop heads, and floor mats (Cintas) • Waste Management • Landscaping and Snow Removal • Filter Services (HVAC / dust collection) • Plumbing services impacting sanitation • Lift and floor scrubber repair • COP machine maintenance/Vending machine services Vendor management includes scheduling, service review, issue resolution, documentation, cost control, and audit readiness.
