About The Position

American Financial Network, Inc. (“AFN”) is hiring a Mortgage Sales Trainer to our Columbus, Ohio branch. We are seeking a high-impact Mortgage Sales Trainer to develop producers, establish standards, and scale performance, from initial onboarding through full production. This position sits at the core of our growth strategy. When training is strong, scale follows. When it’s not, growth stalls. That’s why this role matters. This is not a classroom-based training role. This is not a motivational speaking position. THE OPPORTUNITY: Your role is to build production-ready mortgage professionals while shaping the culture that supports long-term growth. No rushed transitions. No gaps in readiness. You develop talent until they’re winning. WHAT YOU’LL LEAD & DELIVER: 1. Sales Training Program Design and manage a full lifecycle mortgage sales training program Deliver training on sales psychology, call structure, scripting, objection handling, and follow-up Integrate product knowledge, guidelines, and compliance directly into production expectations Support Consumer Direct sales execution from onboarding to performance 2. Culture & Readiness Partner with leadership to set expectations and standards early Reinforce accountability, professionalism, and consistency Ensure trainees are mentally and operationally prepared to enter production 3. Technology & Best Practices Train new hires on AFN’s complete technology ecosystem Confirm every trainee is fully equipped, fluent, and confident before going live Continuously update training to reflect new tools, trends, and best practices 4. NMLS Licensing Ownership Own and manage a structured NMLS licensing roadmap Create clear study plans, timelines, checkpoints, and readiness benchmarks Drive strong first-attempt NMLS pass rates 5. Performance & Measurement Track and manage key training metrics, including: NMLS first-pass success Time to production Early-stage production performance Retention by training cohort Use performance data to refine training and readiness standards 6. Launch & Scale Execute 30–60–90 day onboarding and training plans Align closely with recruiting to support consistent hiring pipelines Partner with sales leadership to transition trainees smoothly into production Maintain focus on measurable production outcomes WHAT THIS ROLE LOOKS LIKE DAY TO DAY: This is a hands-on leadership role with direct influence on outcomes-- Coaching and developing sales talent from onboarding forward Leading structured role-play and live call coaching Addressing skill gaps and performance issues in real time Holding trainees accountable to licensing and production milestones Collaborating daily with recruiting and sales leadership Evolving training based on results, not theory

Requirements

  • A proven mortgage professional with firsthand production experience
  • Experience in training, coaching, sales leadership, or performance development
  • Comfortable owning licensing results, early production, and retention
  • Confident, decisive, and committed to high standards
