About The Position

PlainsCapital Bank is looking for a talented and motivated Commercial Banking Recruiter to join our team and help us attract top commercial lending talent to fuel our growth. Commercial Banker recruiting is currently entirely owned by commercial banking leadership across our markets in Texas, so this role would provide new, dedicated recruiting leadership and be key leverage as a partner to our commercial banking leadership. The Commercial Banking Recruiter will play a pivotal role in sourcing and recruiting high-performing commercial loan officers. You will partner with our PlainsCapital Bank Production Leadership, including Regional Chairmen and Market/Branch Presidents, on supporting their known hiring needs in their respective markets across the state of Texas while also providing them with new candidates for opportunistic hiring. You will be responsible for managing the full recruitment cycle, from networking and business development (attending industry events, recruiting campaign development, referrals from existing lenders, etc.) to identifying potential candidates to guiding them through our recruiting and hiring process with other internal partners. The recruiter will be responsible for networking and building relationships with commercial loan officers and manage/cultivate a pipeline of prospective candidates for all of our regions. This role requires extensive networking, competitive intelligence gathering, and market research to proactively identify top-tier commercial lenders. It will be critical the recruiter becomes knowledgeable about our culture, credit policy, products/services, competitors, market trends and strategy to improve recruiting success. You will manage the relationship with third party recruiting agencies and their submission of candidates, ensuring they are following appropriate processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred. High School diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
  • 5+ years of producer recruitment experience in the financial services industry, with a focus on commercial lending or banking recruitment.
  • Strong understanding of commercial lending, including loan products, underwriting standards, and credit structures, to effectively evaluate candidates.
  • Proven ability to engage senior-level commercial bankers and lending professionals.
  • Experience with competitive intelligence gathering and industry research.
  • Strong sourcing skills/tools, including LinkedIn Recruiter, Indeed, networking, and direct outreach methods.
  • Ability to travel approximately 50% of the time for in-person candidate meetings, networking events, and industry conferences.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to present compelling opportunities to candidates.
  • Self-motivated, entrepreneurial mindset with a results-driven approach to recruiting.
  • Thorough knowledge of equal employment opportunity laws, ADA, and other compliance regulations that affect job recruitment
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of products (specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint).

  • Experience with recruiting CRM tools (Salesforce, Oracle HCM, or similar) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Development and Execution of Recruiting Strategy: Develop and execute a focused recruiting strategy within existing and targeted new markets in Texas. Conduct regional travel to build relationships with potential candidates, centers of influence, and industry professionals. Partner with Marketing to develop materials, drip campaigns and a pitch book
  • Competitive Intelligence & Market Research: Stay updated on key competitor hiring trends, compensation structures, lending strategies, and market shifts to enhance recruitment strategies. Provide leadership with real-time insights on market dynamics.
  • Industry Event Participation & Branding: Represent PlainsCapital Bank at commercial banking and lending conferences, networking events, and trade associations. Organize and participate in regional recruiting blitzes to maintain a strong talent pipeline.
  • Candidate Engagement & Qualification: Utilize personal outreach, referrals, and direct recruiting to engage top candidates. Conduct in-depth candidate assessments, including interviews, business analysis, and referral checks, ensuring alignment with the bank’s credit and lending model.
  • Pipeline Development & Relationship Management: Build and maintain a high-value pipeline of prospective candidates through a combination of networking, CRM tracking, and targeted outreach campaigns. Leverage Salesforce or other CRM tools for data tracking.
  • Banker Partnership: Work closely with Regional Leadership (Regional Chairman, Market/Branch Presidents) to understand hiring needs and ideal candidates. Additionally, develop relationships with other bankers across the state to generate referrals, market color, insights into competitors, etc.
  • Strategic Partnerships: As part of multi-channel recruiting approach, work with recruiting agencies and other third parties to develop programs and improved pipelines.
