About The Position

Gabrielli Truck Sales is seeking a driven and relationship-focused Municipal Salesperson to manage and grow sales within municipal, government, and public sector accounts. This role is responsible for developing long-term partnerships with city, county, state, and public works agencies, providing fleet solutions that align with bid requirements, budgets, and operational needs. The ideal candidate has experience selling commercial trucks or heavy equipment to government entities and understands public procurement processes, cooperative purchasing contracts, and bid-driven sales cycles.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of commercial truck, fleet, or heavy equipment sales experience (municipal or government sales preferred)
  • Strong understanding of public sector procurement and bid processes
  • Experience working with municipal fleets, public works departments, or government agencies
  • Proficiency with CRM systems (Salesforce preferred)
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Ability to manage long sales cycles and multiple accounts simultaneously
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally

Nice To Haves

  • Experience selling Mack, Volvo, or other Class 6–8 trucks
  • Familiarity with cooperative purchasing programs and state contracts
  • Knowledge of fleet funding, grants, and budget cycles
  • Established municipal customer relationships within the territory

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage relationships with municipal, state, county, and public sector customers
  • Identify new municipal sales opportunities through proactive outreach, networking, and market research
  • Respond to RFPs, RFQs, bids, and cooperative purchasing contracts (state contracts, Sourcewell, NJPA, etc.)
  • Present truck and fleet solutions tailored to public works, sanitation, highway, utility, and emergency service needs
  • Coordinate with internal departments (operations, service, parts, finance) to ensure seamless delivery and customer satisfaction
  • Maintain accurate account activity, pipelines, and forecasts within Salesforce CRM
  • Support fleet specification development, including chassis, body, and upfit coordination
  • Monitor contract compliance, pricing structures, and renewal opportunities
  • Attend municipal meetings, trade shows, fleet events, and industry conferences as needed
  • Track market trends, competitor activity, and municipal funding opportunities
