About The Position

The Sales & Marketing Intern will train under the mentorship of the Director of Sales and other dealership personnel. The intern is responsible for completing the MPG and TMI training curricula within 12 months and attending all assigned training classes. Key duties include studying truck and equipment specifications, assisting with MPG marketing activities, gathering market data, conducting research, and managing new and used inventory by staging trucks, taking pictures, and uploading them to online databases and publications. The intern will also maintain used truck flyers, support CRM general maintenance, assist the sales team with CRM questions and reports, input monthly truck sales and customer data, and provide support for various customer events such as luncheons, golf outings, trade shows, blitzes, job fairs, and conferences. Additional responsibilities include direct mailing support, collateral development (newsletters, brochures, blitz materials), managing wholesale email distribution, distributing new truck warranty letters, producing weekly activity reports, assisting with social media, creating marketing videos for trucks, and posting trucks on publication websites. The role requires attending sales and training meetings and maintaining a professional appearance. The internship typically lasts 12 months, with a flexible schedule to accommodate collegiate studies during the school year and full-time work during the summer months (June through August). Three days per week should be allotted for contacting new and established customers to follow up on appointments.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Constantly operate a computer and other office machines such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printers.
  • Work in all kinds of weather out of doors as needed.
  • High School graduate or GED required.
  • Moderate to intermediate computer skills with fundamental computer operations, spreadsheets, word processing, database, e-mail, and CRM software.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, legal documents, and government regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, and business correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions, common inquiries, or complaints, from customers, and the general public.
  • Ability of performing basic math as well as calculating figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, statistics, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
  • Ability to give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Must have a valid CDL driver’s license or be able to attain a CDL driver’s license within six months of hire date.
  • Meet insurability requirements with the Company’s insurance company.

Responsibilities

  • Train under the mentorship of the Director of Sales, and other dealership personnel assigned to mentor specific functions/disciplines.
  • Complete the MPG training curriculum within 12 months.
  • Complete TMI within 12 months.
  • Attend all MPG, Peterbilt, and third party training classes as assigned.
  • Study truck and equipment specifications to improve knowledge of product performance and application.
  • Assist with MPG marketing activities.
  • Gather market data and conduct research.
  • Stage trucks and take pictures from multiple perspectives for New & Used Inventory Management (weekly).
  • Upload pictures to online databases.
  • Upload pictures and descriptions to publications (print & electronic) in coordination with marketing.
  • Maintain used truck flyers/posters for in location marketing and sales support, coordinated with marketing.
  • Remove and consolidate duplicate records as needed for CRM general maintenance.
  • Support sales team on CRM related questions as needed.
  • Support sales management on generating reports as needed.
  • Entry of monthly truck sales.
  • Input customer data from customer events and blitzes as needed.
  • Support Customer Events (Luncheons, Golf Outings, Trade shows, Blitzes, Job Fairs, Conferences).
  • Provide direct mailing support as needed.
  • Provide Collateral Development and Support as needed (Newsletters, Brochures, Blitz materials, Specials/handouts).
  • Manage and distribute the wholesale email distribution in coordination with the Wholesale Manager and marketing.
  • Manage and distribute New Truck Warranty letters (aftersale) in coordination with F&I Manager and marketing.
  • Produce weekly activity report.
  • Provide Social Media assistance to marketing.
  • Produce "walk around" marketing videos for all used trucks.
  • Produce "walk around" marketing videos for new trucks.
  • Work with marketing to post trucks on publication websites, print media and other promotions.
  • Attend sales and training meetings.
  • Maintain professional appearance.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.
  • Allot three days per week for contacting new and established customers to follow up on appointments that were previously scheduled.
