About The Position

The Director of Sales identifies, develops, and maintains property sales and marketing objectives, plans, and programs with the goal of maximizing rates and overall revenues for Eastland Suites and The Tentac Enterprises Companies while achieving superior service. The Director of Sales also strives to increase corporate client base through consistent solicitations while establishing trust and rapport with prospects/clients to generate and boost revenues for the hotel. This position will be responsible for supervising, managing, and overseeing the Sales Department while following the guidance of the General Manager.

Requirements

  • An ability to deal effectively with vastly diverse groups of people and guests is essential.
  • Previous hotel sales, marketing or other sales experience
  • Valid Driver’s License and acceptable MVR
  • All team members must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance including hair color.
  • Sitting in a normal seated position for extended periods of time
  • Reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction
  • Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than with whole hand(s) or arm(s), for example, using a keyboard
  • Ability to communicate using the spoken word
  • Ability to see within normal parameters
  • Ability to hear within normal range
  • Must be able to ascend and descend stairs multiple times per shift
  • Must be able to move independently throughout the entity

Nice To Haves

  • College Degree in Sales or Hospitality
  • Operate and utilize company equipment including: company cell phone, personal computer to access e-mail and research prospects and clients, electronic calendars, and other office support software.

Responsibilities

  • With the General Manager and Corporate Director of Hospitality, helps set sales strategies to achieve overall property goals for rate and occupancy.
  • Has a working knowledge of the hotel’s budget and is aware of where the hotel’s revenues are at all times. Also monitors expenses directly related to the sales department to ensure they are kept within the budgeted allotment.
  • Maintains efficient sales office procedures for productive use of staff time and insures the maintenance of accurate and updated account files and follow-up procedures.
  • Monitors and directs sales leads to sales managers, provides motivation, support, encouragement, and direction to all members of the sales department.
  • Makes over the phone and face-to-face sales calls.
  • Develops design of new programs and campaigns to encourage additional sales from the various market segments.
  • Ensures prompt and systematic servicing of all business accounts (i.e., tracing, booking, contracting, communicating with hotel departments, and following up with group for feedback and future bookings).
  • Identifies and analyzes competition, both locally and regionally.
  • Must be innovative, service oriented to potential guests and fellow hotel staff, and at home when interacting with people.
  • Conduct promotion of the property through community involvement.
  • Retain and grow current clients.
  • Administrative duties such as writing and sending contracts, ensures the monitoring of group room block release dates, ensures the timely loading of necessary accounts into GDS, ensures that new accounts are set up appropriately in PMS and maintaining filing system.
  • Trade account management – Requests approval from GM and Tentac Enterprises for new trade accounts, tracks usage of existing accounts and ensures proper redemption of trade owed to the hotel.
  • Works with and Corporate Director of Hospitality on all materials (internal and external marketing), including ad campaign & design.
  • Maximize use of monthly marketing budget.
  • Participates in team activities to demonstrate team lead’s dedication to general hotel morale.
  • Some limited overnight travel is required.
  • Monitor and enforce weekly required sales goals and efforts consisting of outside sales calls, trace calls, site inspections and promotion & entertainment.
  • Develops the annual Marketing and Sales plan and implements campaigns such as direct mail, social media or sales blitz.
  • Plan, organize, and hold weekly sales meetings with entire sales team.
  • Attend community and networking events and is the “face” of Eastland Suites Hotel & Conference Center- Trademark by Wyndham.
  • Any changes or others that may apply as dictated by supervisor.
