About The Position

The Sales Development Representative plays a critical role in driving growth within the utility locating industry by connecting our Sales and Product Management teams with key decision-makers. This position is responsible for identifying opportunities early in the project lifecycle, engaging engineers, project managers, and distributors, and securing high-value meetings that influence product specifications, including marker balls. This is an ideal role for a motivated, self-driven professional who thrives in proactive outreach, enjoys building relationships, and wants to make a measurable impact on company growth. This is a full-time position with benefits, in-office position offering visibility, ownership, and career development opportunities. In addition to the hourly rate the position is eligible for variable earnings based on leads created/created/followed.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated success in business development, inside sales, appointment setting, and/or outbound prospecting roles.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage technical and non-technical audiences.
  • High level of organization, initiative, and accountability with the ability to self-direct daily activities.
  • Comfortable working in a performance-driven environment with measurable goals and outcomes.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Associate’s or higher degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1-3 years of experience in business development, sales support, inside sales, or a related role preferred.
  • Strong research and analytical skills to identify and qualify project opportunities.
  • Persistence, resilience, and confidence when engaging new contacts.
  • Ability to clearly communicate value propositions and uncover customer needs.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent follow-through and documentation skills.
  • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work cross-functionally.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience within construction, utilities, engineering, infrastructure, or industrial markets is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively identify, research, and qualify upcoming and awarded utility infrastructure projects using online databases, bid results, industry publications, and internal resources.
  • Conduct outbound prospecting via direct email, outreach campaigns and phone calls to engineers, project managers, distributors, and other industry professionals to introduce solutions and generate qualified meetings.
  • Secure and coordinate meetings for Sales and Product Management teams, ensuring accurate transfer of project details, customer needs, and opportunity context.
  • Monitor project bid results and follow up with key stakeholders to influence specifications and inclusion of marker balls early in the project design phase.
  • Build and maintain a robust pipeline of prospects through independent research, tradeshow leads, referrals, and ongoing relationship development.
  • Own and self-manage daily schedules, outreach activities, and follow-ups to consistently meet or exceed performance targets.
  • Accurately document all interactions, opportunities, and outcomes within CRM and reporting systems.
  • Analyze outreach results, identify trends, and prepare clear summaries and performance reports for management.
  • Collaborate closely with Sales, Product Management, and Marketing teams to align messaging, targeting strategies, and opportunity prioritization.
  • Represent the company professionally and confidently as a trusted industry partner in all communications.
