About The Position

If you love independent journalism and are looking for the opportunity to leverage your expertise in pursuing sales opportunities, advertising agencies, and direct client relationships at KUT 90.5 FM, this role is for you. Your success will be measured by your ability to source and close new sponsors, increase revenue from existing accounts, maintain an account list, and develop new business through consistent sales activities including customer visits and Zoom calls. You will be responsible for delivering professional, solution-based proposals to clients and prospects, building and maintaining positive relationships with advertising agencies, sponsors, and colleagues, and tracking activity in the CRM. A typical day involves hunting for new business, leading meetings with business leaders and agencies, managing existing accounts, and proposing/selling sponsorship schedules, programs, and events to achieve sales goals. You will act as a media consultant, growing your account list by prospecting new clients and utilizing your familiarity with local market media to position KUT 90.5 FM as a key marketing resource, leveraging their extensive radio and digital products. Collaboration with team members, including a Business Development Specialist, is key for crafting compelling proposals and going to market with best-in-class materials supported by audience analytics to provide proof of performance. Your efforts will fuel independent media in and around the Austin region.

Requirements

  • Seasoned in outside B2B sales, account development, new business development and agency management, along with knowledge of sales and marketing principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling
  • Skilled and motivated to close new business by implementing marketing strategy and tactics, and honed sales techniques
  • Confidence comes from being prepared
  • Expert interpersonal and communication skills, and a history developing trusted relationships
  • Possess a keen understanding of digital media, and prior success selling integrated programs including on-air, digital, and events
  • Hold a broad-based business acumen with marketing knowledge across multiple key categories
  • Have a strong understanding of the Austin market, including decision makers, local events, and key accounts
  • Possess a valid driver’s license

Responsibilities

  • Source and close new sponsors and increase revenue from existing accounts
  • Maintain an account list and develop new business to consistently execute sales activities, driving revenue growth through participation in sales-related activities, including customer visits and Zoom calls
  • Deliver professional, solution-based proposals to all clients and prospects that include a co-op, negotiated fee schedule, completion period, and other related requirements
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with advertising agencies, sponsors, and colleagues
  • Track and manage your activity by documenting activity in our CRM
  • Hunt for new business
  • Lead meetings with business leaders, agencies, and engaging with and managing existing accounts
  • Propose and sell sponsorship schedules, programs, and events to build and maintain relationships, achieve/exceed sales goals and serve as a media consultant to your clients
  • Develop and grow your account list by prospecting and engaging with new clients
  • Use familiarity with local market media and competitor dynamics to distinguish KUT 90.5 FM as a key marketing resource
  • Utilize KUT Public Media extensive radio and digital products
  • Collaborate with team members, including a Business Development Specialist who’ll help you craft compelling proposals
  • Go to market with best-in-class materials supported by audience analytics to provide sponsors with proof of performance
  • Ensure sponsor’s messages aired without issue
