About The Position

SAFETY SPECIALIST Contribute to the strategic direction of the business and support impactful mission outcomes as a Safety Specialist at GDIT. MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT As a Safety Specialist, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of US Navy Fleet Modernization. You will play a crucial role in environmental reporting and compliance to ensure all appropriate environmental permits and reports are up to date, and accurate describe to ensure continued operations and no CARs, or NOVs. ● Lead/Manage/Support environmental compliance at the waterfront and other GDIT locations on the West Coast and HI ● Collaborate with GDIT team mates, AITS, OSICs, Host Yards and regulators to achieve and maintain environmental compliance. ● Drive environmental compliance, provide training and coaching, solve challenges, and take ownership of the environmental reporting and Access Agreement process for host yards. ● Utilize your knowledge of environmental regulations including but not limited to Hazardous Materials, Hazardous Waste, CERS, CUPA, HMBP, SDAPCD rules and requirements, monthly reports including: adhesive, marine coatings, welding rod consumable usage reports.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science
  • Experience: 2+ years of related experience
  • Technical skills: Local, State and Federal Environmental regulations, NAVSEA Standard Items, OSHA
  • US citizenship required
  • Role requirements: computer literate, proficient in online database reporting tools and MS Office.

Responsibilities
