We are cultivating deeper connections with every bond we forge: a more comprehensive network that serves the world around us—inside our walls and out.   Learn more at telamon.com   The Specialist, Safety is responsible for developing, implementing, and sustaining a comprehensive workplace safety and health program for a high-volume warehouse and assembly/Shelter Integration operation of approximately 50 employees. This role partners closely with operations leadership, supervisors, HR, and employees to proactively reduce risk, ensure regulatory compliance, and foster a strong safety culture where safety is embedded into daily work, not treated as a separate function. This position is hands-on and visible on the floor, balancing strategic program ownership with practical, day-to-day risk identification, coaching, and incident prevention.

Requirements

  • Intermediate working knowledge of OSHA regulations and general industry safety standards applicable to warehouse and light assembly environments.
  • Ability to interpret regulatory requirements and translate them into practical, site-specific policies and procedures.
  • Skill in maintaining required safety documentation, logs, and records with accuracy and consistency.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify workplace hazards, assess risk, and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Skilled in assisting with incident and near-miss investigations, including root cause analysis and trend identification.
  • Ability toprioritize safety risks based on severity, frequency, and operational impact.
  • Skilled in building accountability for safety at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to challenge unsafe practices constructively while maintaining strong working relationships.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required (strong excel skills)
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail and coordinate various activities simultaneously
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in matters involving security and/or personnel issues
  • Highschool diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of safety management or operational leadership experience in a warehouse, distribution, manufacturing, or light assembly environment.
  • Intermediate knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety management systems.
  • Experience assisting with incident investigations and implementing corrective actions.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence leaders and frontline employees without relying on authority alone.
  • Able to obtain and maintain safety certification, examples but not limited to: OSHA Authorized Trainer, CPR/First Aid/ AED Trainer, Forklift Trainer.

Responsibilities

  • Own and continuously improve the site safety program, including policies, procedures, and safe work practices for warehouse and light assembly operations.
  • Lead hazard identification, risk assessments, and corrective action planning across all functional areas.
  • Ensure safety considerations are integrated into operational changes, new processes, equipment, and layouts.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations (e.g., OSHA).
  • Maintain OSHA logs and required reporting; serve as the primary site contact for regulatory inspections and audits.
  • Interpret regulations and translate them into clear, practical expectations for leaders and employees.
  • Assist with investigations of workplace injuries, near misses, property damage, and safety incidents; identify root causes and implement sustainable corrective actions.
  • Collect data to grow safety metrics (incident rates, trends, leading indicators) and report insights to senior safety leadership.
  • Partner with HR and Operations on workers’ compensation claims management and return-to-work coordination for site level.
  • Coordinate and deliver safety training programs, including onboarding, refresher training, job-specific training, and leadership safety coaching.
  • Coach supervisors and managers on their role in safety leadership, accountability, and employee engagement.
  • Promote employee involvement in safety through observations, safety committees, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Build a strong, consistent safety culture grounded in accountability, trust, and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct regular floor walks and safety observations to reinforce expectations and identify emerging risks.
  • Partner with operations teams to balance productivity, quality, and safety without trade-offs.
