About The Position

The Warehouse Safety Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining safety programs that ensure regulatory compliance and create a strong culture of safety across our warehouse operations. This role will oversee incident investigations, OSHA compliance, training programs, auditing, and continuous improvement initiatives. The Safety Manager partners closely with operations leadership, drivers, and warehouse teams to reduce risk, improve safety performance, and always promote safe work practices. This position is based on site in Lafayette, IN and requires the ability to travel to additional locations for up to one week per month.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in safety management within logistics, warehousing, or industrial environments required.
  • OSHA 30 certification REQUIRED.
  • Experience conducting investigations and leading corrective action efforts.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% (one week per month) required.
  • Proficiency with incident reporting systems and safety documentation.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with ammonia refrigeration, and/or ammonia refrigeration certification.
  • Experience with DOT/FMCSA safety regulations.
  • Experience training adult learners in hands-on environments.
  • Familiarity with transportation equipment and warehouse operations.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure full compliance with OSHA and other federal and state safety regulations.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant regulations and industry safety practices.
  • Lead OSHA compliance efforts including recordkeeping, reporting, inspections, and hazard abatement.
  • Administer and manage safety policies, corrective actions, and risk mitigation plans.
  • Design, develop, and deliver safety training programs for warehouse associates, and leadership teams.
  • Conduct onboarding safety orientations for new hires.
  • Responsible for overseeing the equipment certification program to ensure compliance with OSHA standards.
  • Lead accident and incident investigations, including root cause analysis and preventative action planning.
  • Maintain safety records and documentation per OSHA standards.
  • Partner with operations to reduce recurring incidents and safety-related costs.
  • Conduct facility inspections, job-site audits, and safety assessments across locations.
  • Review compliance and safety-sensitive records.
  • Monitor safety metrics and provide monthly reporting to leadership.
  • Recommend improvements to safety processes, procedures, and culture.
  • Serve as a safety resource and advisor for warehouse managers and staff.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to strengthen safety engagement.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture through coaching and communication.
