Position Summary Provide technical safety and health support to SJI personnel. Implement the safety and health programs and objectives and coordinate safety training programs for the company. Monitor safety and health regulations and provide technical support to SJI personnel to ensure compliance with federal and state safety and health regulations. As directed, assist in completing safety audits of field operations and facilities and make recommendations to eliminate workplace hazards, improve performance and eliminate avoidable accidents.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with emphasis on written skills.
  • Ability to understand and interpret pertinent safety regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in field operations.
  • Some instructional background experience or education.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies company safety training needs and assists Safety Specialist in developing, coordinating and administering the safety training programs.
  • Insure operations personnel are provided with appropriate personal protective equipment and are worn per manufacturer directions.
  • Assists in monitoring lost-time injuries/illnesses and worker’s compensation claims.
  • Assist Safety Specialist with post-accident investigations to discover root causes of motor vehicle and personal injuries.
  • Motivate, by example, all employees to strive for an accident-free work environment.
  • Assists Safety Specialist with conducting operational audits of required safety related documentation in all locations to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations.
  • Prepare audit result reports and follow up on remediation required.
