About The Position

The Safety (Security) Specialist ensures the safety and security of residents, staff, and visitors to the facility while fostering a supportive, person-centered and trauma-informed environment. This role involves monitoring the premises, responding to various safety incidents, and assisting with emergency preparedness and daily safety operations.

Requirements

  • Current OREGON DPSST Certification Required
  • 1+ years of Security experience, preferably in a human/social services environment
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Suite
  • Excellent documentation and reporting skills
  • Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure, making sound decisions in emergencies.
  • Excellent communication and observational skills.
  • A professional and compassionate disposition along with excellent customer service skills.
  • Current CPR/First Aid Certification (or willing to obtain within 60 days of hire).

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of trauma-informed, person-centered and harm-reduction approaches.
  • Understanding of the issues surrounding homelessness, chemical dependency, domestic violence, and sexual assault.
  • Bilingual/bicultural skills highly desired

Responsibilities

  • Monitor entrances, exits, shared spaces and camera views to ensure the safety of all individuals on site.
  • De-escalate conflicts using nonviolent, professional communication and trauma-informed techniques.
  • Conduct hourly walkthroughs and safety checks.
  • Report incidents clearly and accurately, escalating as needed.
  • Support residents during safety-related incidents.
  • Provide crisis response support in collaboration with staff and emergency services.
  • Identify and report safety hazards.
  • Engage positively with residents.
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation and reporting
