About The Position

Project for Pride in Living (PPL) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering low-income individuals and families to become self-reliant through integrated services in housing, employment, and education. The Safety & Security Specialist is responsible for promoting a safe, secure, and welcoming environment at PPL‑owned and managed properties. This role focuses on preventing and responding to safety concerns, mitigating environmental and physical risks, and supporting residents, staff, and community partners through proactive presence, monitoring, and incident management. The specialist ensures PPL maintains the highest standards of safety and security across all sites.

Requirements

  • Strong written, oral, and electronic communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse racial, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Familiarity with key neighborhoods in which PPL properties are located
  • At least 1-3 years of experience in safety and security
  • High School Diploma or GED is required
  • Valid Driver's license

Nice To Haves

  • Military or law enforcement training/experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular visits to PPL properties to identify and document safety or maintenance issues, including doors, windows, lighting, and signs of potential illegal activity
  • Protect life and safeguard property by enforcing laws, regulations, and PPL policies on‑site
  • Respond promptly to emergency assistance requests from PPL staff at properties, offices, or school sites, prioritizing the protection of individuals
  • Maintain accurate documentation of findings, incidents, observations, and recommended corrective actions
  • Assist in developing and implementing strategic safety and security plans across PPL sites
  • Work collaboratively with PPL staff to communicate safety concerns, develop proactive strategies, and address “hot spot” properties
