Provides coordination and direction for the organizational safety and preparedness strategy. Evaluates and updates the Safety Management Plan and Emergency Operations Plan in collaboration with leadership. Conducts annual safety and hazard vulnerability assessments. Coordinates drills, emergency exercises, and after-action reports; leads improvement planning. Ensures surveillance systems are in place to identify and mitigate potential safety risks, including equipment, utilities, physical hazards, and environmental concerns. Supports and encourages staff reporting of safety events and near misses. Facilitates or supports root cause analysis following significant safety or emergency events. Leads Safety Committee meetings and develops agendas, minutes, and follow-up actions. Responds to regulatory requirements and standards including, but not limited to: Joint Commission Environment of Care CMS Emergency Preparedness Rule OSHA regulations National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Coordinates fire safety initiatives and life safety procedures in collaboration with Facilities. Organizes and delivers new employee orientation and annual training for safety and disaster preparedness. Monitors professional resources, regulatory updates, and best practices; recommends improvements to leadership. Assists with safety-related purchasing needs and budget input. Maintains professional, respectful communication and models a culture of safe work practices. Participates in required education, performance improvement, and organizational trainings. Maintains confidentiality of patient, resident, employee, and organizational information. Performs other duties as necessary or assigned.
