As a Telecom Wireline and Wireless Safety Manager, you are responsible for providing safety leadership, ensuring operational compliance with safety standards, implementing safety directives, assisting management to improve safety performance, and helping align safety policies and procedures with regulations. In addition, you will: Develop and support the creation of a safety and compliance strategy with strategic goals Ensure site management has the appropriate activity-based goals for the leadership team, managers, and supervisors, to drive the safety culture, compliance, and results Supervise, lead, and mentor company-wide safety and compliance support staff Develop effective safety and compliance programs and policies designed to meet operational goals to reduce injuries and incidents Communicate safety and compliance strategy and objectives to leadership Support site management in the implementation of safety and compliance programs or policies Design and implement effective metrics to track progress, proactively identify areas of concern, and drive accountability Design and execute an effective Occupational, Health and Safety Management System Liaise with external vendors to manage the hazardous waste hotline, SDS system, waste collection, and disposal program Develop and implement audit tracks and identify gaps in local compliance with corporate safety policies and procedures Lead or direct the incident investigation process, including root cause analysis and identification of corrective action plans Facilitate supervisor and management training on root cause analysis Assist site management in ensuring compliance with all regulatory agencies Monitor, interpret, and communicate regulatory changes to management Display strong problem-solving skills, organizational skills, and analytical skills Demonstrate professional maturity and the ability to act as a change leader Identify best practices and lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce work process risks, raise safety awareness, and improve safe work practices Provide technical advice, coaching, guidance, and mentoring to employees on safety initiatives and necessary changes Perform other duties as required and/or assigned

  • You possess an Associate’s degree or equivalent
  • You have 5 years of related supervisory experience in a safety role
  • Possess working knowledge of the construction and/or telecommunications/electrical/gas industry
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to read and understand maps, drawings, and diagrams for project plans
  • Able to think strategically and provide strong leadership
  • Possess strong knowledge of applicable regulations
  • Able to maintain confidentiality
  • Valid vehicle driver’s license and driving record meeting MasTec Network Solutions’ vehicle policy criteria
  • Valid authorization to work in the US
  • Ability and willingness to travel a minimum of sixty percent (60%) of the time across the MNS footprint (Territory covered will potentially consist of the Beltway and areas South to Charlottesville, North to Hagerstown, and Ijamsville)

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of Wireless/Wireline Construction Safety experience is preferred
  • Minimum of 3-5 years in the telecommunications and/or tower industry is preferred
  • Previous experience/knowledge in safety and risk management
  • Knowledge in Fleet Safety and DOT compliance would be useful, but is not required
  • Prior certification in Fall Protection/Rescue, First Aid/CPR, and OSHA standards is a plus
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, including CDs, RFDSs, SAs, and Rigging Plans, and assess compliance with construction documentation is preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and online applications
