Wharton-Smith, Inc., a highly regarded General Contractor throughout the Southeast, is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Safety Manager. We are currently seeking someone who is willing to work in our Tampa region and based out of our Tampa office. Primary responsibilities: Assist with jobsite safety inspections and hazard identification to help maintain a safe work environmentSupport implementation of the project safety plan and Wharton-Smith safety policiesMonitor jobsite activities to ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe work practicesAssist with documentation of incidents, near-misses, and safety observationsSupport safety meetings and safety training initiativesMaintain safety records, reports, and compliance documentationOther tasks as directed by the Safety Manager or project leadership team Technical skills: Basic knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety standardsAbility to perform jobsite safety inspections and hazard recognitionFamiliarity with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements and enforcementUnderstanding of incident reporting and investigation proceduresAbility to review and support site-specific safety plans (SSSP)Experience maintaining safety documentation, reports, and compliance recordsBasic knowledge of construction processes and jobsite operationsProficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for safety reportingAbility to track and analyze safety metrics and observations Qualifications: Basic knowledge of OSHA construction safety standardsOSHA 10-hour certification preferred (OSHA 30 a plus)Ability to work in a construction jobsite environmentStrong written and verbal communication skillsHigh level of attention to detailProfessionalism and accountabilityProficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)Ability to observe, identify, and document safety hazardsStrong organizational and record-keeping skillsAbility to work collaboratively with project teams and subcontractorsWillingness to learn and support construction safety programs and initiatives.
