About The Position

The Safety Manager is responsible for the transformation, development, implementation, and maintaining workplace health and safety programs within a food manufacturing environment. This role leads compliance with all regulatory requirements while fostering a strong safety culture that protects employees, supports operational efficiency, and aligns with food safety standards.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of safety leadership experience
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and food safety standards (GMP, HACCP, FDA guidelines).
  • Experience with incident investigation methodologies and root cause analysis.
  • Proven ability to influence and engage employees at all levels.
  • Strong leadership and an agent who is a champion of transformational change
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving within a cross-functioning environment
  • Attention to detail and regulatory compliance focus

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Safety, or related field
  • Professional certification such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or ASP
  • Experience preferably in food manufacturing or a regulated production environment

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve site-wide safety programs, policies, and procedures to ensure a best-in-class working environment for all employees.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal safety regulations (e.g., OSHA) as well as company standards.
  • Lead risk assessments, hazard analyses, and job safety evaluations across all departments.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and facility walkthroughs to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Investigate workplace incidents, near misses, and injuries; determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Partner with food safety and quality teams to ensure alignment between safety protocols and food manufacturing standards (e.g., GMPs, HACCP).
  • Facilitate safety training programs, including onboarding, refresher training, and leadership coaching.
  • Track, analyze, and report safety metrics (TRIR, LTIR, near-miss reporting) to leadership.
  • Lead emergency preparedness efforts, including evacuation plans, drills, and crisis response.
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and HR to reinforce safe behaviors and continuous improvement.
