The Safety Manager (Aviation) plans, implements, and coordinates safety and environmental programs in accordance with required regulations, procedures, and policies with primary focus on aviation. Facilitates identification of safety and environmental risks and promotes reduction or elimination of potential accidents, occupational injuries, illnesses, deaths, and safety-related financial losses. Conducts safety assistance visits and training to ensure implementation of and compliance with safety directives. Collect data and analyze many types of work environments and work procedures, inspect workplaces for adherence to regulations on safety, health, and the environment. Worth with specialists in conducting tests and measuring hazards to help prevent harm to workers, property, the environment, and the public. Develop, administer, or enforce regulations and standards concerning civil aviation safety. This includes the competence of pilots, mechanics, and other airmen and the safety aspects of aviation facilities, equipment, and procedures. Analyze many types of work environments and work procedures. Inspect workplaces for adherence to regulations on safety, health, and the environment. Conduct tests and measure risk for hazards to help prevent harm to workers, property, the environment, and the public. Responsible for a wide variety of tasks associated with maintaining a safe workplace. Create, maintain, and communicate safety-related policies and procedures, as well as ensuring that they are followed. Determine the need for new policies and procedures and writ, edit, and update policy and procedure documents, posters, and handbooks. Enforce safety policies and procedures. Demonstrates a safety-first mentality within respective work areas and a culture that achieves low accident rates and minimal lost time injuries. Capable of performing incident investigations on their own or enlist assistance from other supervisory personnel or outside consultants to include root cause analysis of what occurred, conclusions, and recommendations and provide assistance with developing and implementing appropriate corrective or preventive actions. Ensure that their company is following all safety-related regulatory requirements, including OSHA standards, Department of Transportation regulations and Environmental Protection Agency requirements. Support the Safety Manager/ASO as directed. Capable of coaching, mentoring, and advising to all levels of the workforce to promote a safe work culture. Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
