About The Position

The SHE Specialist will serve as the primary safety, health, and environmental contact for our Poway, CA manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for implementing and maintaining all SHE programs in alignment with company policies and applicable regulatory requirements. The Specialist will collaborate with site leadership, field personnel, and cross-functional teams to drive compliance, promote continuous improvement, and foster a proactive safety culture. This role will also lead initiatives to support environmental stewardship, safety engagement, and operational readiness through audits, training, and data-informed risk reduction efforts.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with SHE as the primary responsibility within a manufacturing or industrial setting. Relevant education may substitute for some experience.
  • High school diploma required, associate degree or higher in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field preferred.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, Cal/OSHA, EPA, and relevant SHE regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications such as OSHA 30, HAZWOPER, First Aid/CPR, or ASP/CSP are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and enforce SHE policies and procedures in alignment with corporate and regulatory requirements (e.g., OSHA, Cal/OSHA, EPA, RCRA).
  • Ensure site readiness for internal and external audits, customer requirements, and ISO certification efforts.
  • Maintain and improve the site’s emergency response plan and fire prevention programs.
  • Conduct job hazard analyses (JHAs), risk assessments, and emergency drills.
  • Conduct routine safety audits, inspections, and job hazard assessments; document findings and implement corrective actions.
  • Lead investigations into safety incidents and near misses; perform root cause analysis and ensure timely follow-up.
  • Prepare detailed incident reports, audit findings, and compliance summaries.
  • Track completion of corrective actions, maintain SDS records, and support OSHA log documentation.
  • Support workers' compensation processes as needed, including reporting and documentation.
  • Coordinate and deliver SHE-related training (e.g., PPE, LOTO, Bloodborne Pathogens, Emergency Response).
  • Maintain accurate training records and ensure employee certifications are current.
  • Monitor availability and condition of PPE, first aid, and emergency response equipment.
  • Ensure employees use PPE appropriately and that equipment is regularly inspected and maintained.
  • Champion a positive safety culture through visible leadership, employee engagement, and committee participation.
  • Serve as the local liaison to the broader SHE teams for cross-site initiatives.
