About The Position

The Safety and Director is responsible for developing a culture built on safety and providing leadership and direction in the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of Tri-M’s health, safety programs. This role ensures regulatory compliance, reduces risk, and partners with leadership and employees to promote safe work practices across all business units.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety or related degree.
  • Minimum of 6 years experience in the construction industry, preferably electrical.
  • In depth knowledge of OSHA and the NEC.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Ability to handle difficult situations in a professional, constructive manner.
  • Intermediate level computer literacy
  • Highly organized and ability to prioritize to meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work as a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Working 40 hours/week, scheduled in 8-to-10-hour shifts.
  • Vision adequate for daily and consistent computer use and reading.
  • Sitting 6 to 8 hours/day.
  • Lifting weights of 0 to 30 lbs. from floor to above shoulders.
  • Repetitive use of hands for writing, typing, data entry.

Responsibilities

  • Complies with and ensures compliance with all Tri-M safety policies and procedures.
  • Complies with and ensures compliance with all Tri-M employment policies and procedures including standards of conduct and appearance to reflect positively on the Company.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve the company’s safety management system, policies, and procedures.
  • Provide leadership and oversight of safety performance across all teams and locations.
  • Lead company-wide safety culture initiatives that promote employee engagement, accountability, and safe work practices.
  • Advise executive leadership on safety performance, risk trends, and strategic improvements.
  • Plan and manage the Safety Department budget, staffing, and resources.
  • Serve as Chair of the Safety Committee and as an advisor to senior leadership on safety strategy and risk management.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, MSHA, state, and company safety regulations, including required documentation and reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, DOT, EPA, and all other applicable regulations.
  • Maintain required documentation, permits, and records; oversee regulatory inspections and responses.
  • Monitor industry standards, emerging regulations, and best practices in electrical construction safety.
  • Oversee fleet safety programs to reduce risk and promote safe driving practices.
  • Partner with customers and internal stakeholders to align safety expectations and requirements.
  • Manage third‑party safety prequalification platforms and site qualification processes.
  • Review and approve subcontractor safety qualifications.
  • Oversee new hire safety orientation and safety requirements for temporary workers.
  • Ensure qualification, certification, and competency tracking for all required roles.
  • Develop, maintain, and update the company safety manual, policies, and procedures.
  • Lead and oversee all safety incident investigations, ensuring effective root cause analysis, corrective actions, and accurate reporting.
  • Determine root causes and drive corrective and preventive actions.
  • Administer and enforce the company substance abuse policy.
  • Track safety metrics and produce reports, dashboards, and performance analyses for leadership and project teams.
  • Develop, implement, and report safety metrics and KPIs to track performance, identify trends, and drive accountability.
  • Champion continuous improvement efforts to reduce incident rates and improve operational safety.
  • Manage the workers’ compensation program, including claims administration, provider coordination, case management, and insurance carrier relationships.
  • Oversee company insurance programs, including workers’ compensation, general liability, auto, and related claims.
  • Direct case management activities and manage litigation and legal matters related to safety and insurance claims.
  • Administer and enforce the company safety accountability program.
