About The Position

We are looking for a Safety Director to join our Safety team on our project in Franklin Furnace, OH. This is a full-time, in-person position. The Safety Director provides strategic leadership for safety, focusing on people, planning, and performance. This role is responsible for developing leaders, strengthening culture, and ensuring safety is proactively integrated into project planning and execution. The Safety Director drives alignment between safety and operations through early engagement, planning influence, and the use of direct control to manage risk.

Requirements

  • BCSP CSP (preferred) or equivalent senior safety certification
  • OSHA 500 required
  • Extensive leadership experience in construction safety
  • Strong ability to influence teams, lead through others, and drive organizational alignment
  • Demonstrated experience integrating safety into planning, design, and high-risk construction activities

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and vision for safety culture, expectations, and performance, including effective trade partner engagement and management, with a strong emphasis on SIF prevention and high-consequence risk management
  • Develop and lead safety professionals and project safety leadership teams
  • Partner with operations and executive leadership to align safety with project planning, execution, and business objectives
  • Influence safety in design and preconstruction, ensuring risk is identified and mitigated early through planning, direct controls, and a focus on high-risk energy exposures
  • Drive consistency in how safety is planned, communicated, and executed across teams, reinforcing EBS principles and proactive risk identification
  • Lead organizational alignment, communication, and accountability around safety performance, with focus on reducing SIF exposure and strengthening learning culture
  • Oversee major incident response, trends, and organizational learning, ensuring insights are translated into systemic improvements and SIF prevention strategies
  • Provide guidance on complex and high-risk operations (e.g., crane & rigging, energy isolation/LOTO, critical lifts), ensuring appropriate planning, controls, and energy management are in place
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and regulatory stakeholders
  • Lead talent development, succession planning, and long-term growth of safety personnel
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and strategic safety resource to project teams, providing guidance on planning, risk management, and execution
  • Identify and drive continuous improvement through data, field feedback, and innovation, including trends related to high-risk activities and SIF potential
