About The Position

The Safety Director is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all safety programs and procedures across the company’s roofing operations. This role ensures full compliance with OSHA regulations, state and local requirements, and internal safety standards. The Safety Director will work closely with project managers, field crews, and executive leadership to foster a strong safety culture and minimize risk across all job sites.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in construction safety, preferably in roofing, commercial construction, or related trades.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA 1926 construction standards.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction & OSHA 510 or 500.
  • Proven experience conducting field safety inspections and developing safety programs.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and training skills.
  • Valid driver’s license; ability to travel 4–6 days per month.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the company’s comprehensive safety program, policies, and procedures.
  • Conduct regular job-site inspections, audits, and hazard assessments to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Lead accident/incident investigations, root-cause analysis, and corrective action planning.
  • Deliver safety training to field staff, foremen, and supervisors, including toolbox talks and ongoing education.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of safety records, OSHA logs, training certifications, SDS sheets, and incident reports.
  • Oversee the company’s fleet safety program and participate in claims management.
  • Collaborate with management to evaluate job hazards, create site-specific safety plans (SSSP), and implement preventive measures.
  • Serve as the primary contact for OSHA, insurance carriers, consultants, and third-party safety auditors.
  • Analyze safety trends and metrics to drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure proper use of PPE and safe operation of equipment.
  • Support emergency response planning and readiness.
