About The Position

This position is responsible for aligning with the company's safety program. They will also lead and direct the safety function of the assigned building(s) and provide recommendations regarding safety initiatives and programs. This position is responsible for complying with all safety, health and environmental regulations which will support the strategic business plan of the company.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Federal and State OSHA, and various state regulations.
  • Environmental experience is helpful.
  • English Language Proficiency
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English clearly to understand work instructions, safety guidelines, document issues, and communicate effectively with team members and leadership.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Leadership
  • Intermediate Computer Skills particular to MS Office Suite
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Successfully multi-task, organize, and prioritize
  • Ensure collaborative relationships with industry, trade, other associations, regulatory agencies and Hearthside staff.
  • Sitting at a workstation for extended periods of time
  • Stand, walk, climb stairs on a frequent basis
  • Must be able to lift 30 pounds on an frequent basis
  • Associates degree in Safety or Human Resources preferred or 1-3 years combination of education and practical experience.
  • Knowledge of both State and Federal safety, health and environmental regulations in a similar environment
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities

Responsibilities

  • Work with local management to provide information regarding plant safety status, initiatives, identification of safety needs, and effective program/process follow through.
  • Coordinate and provide safety training according to the Federal, State, and Company standards.
  • Maintain required safety and health documents
  • Conduct periodic safety and health walk-through inspections.
  • Analyzing current safety programs determines applicability through metrics. Suggest improvements if necessary.
  • Conduct safety audits.
  • Advising provisions to minimize safety risks
  • Create AIL with follow through of assignments as directed by manager
  • Conduct Safety Team meetings
  • Intervene in unsafe activities or operations
  • Ensure the development, implementation and updating of required written safety and health programs and plans.
