Requirements

  • Experience supporting workplace safety in a foundry, metal casting, heavy manufacturing, or industrial environment.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and the ability to apply them in a manufacturing setting.
  • Ability to lead training sessions and communicate safety concepts clearly and effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to perform root-cause analysis and recommend practical solutions.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications and the ability to maintain accurate documentation.
  • Capability to work safely in high‑heat areas and around heavy equipment.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, and lift up to 40 lbs. in a foundry environment while wearing required PPE.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future.

Nice To Haves

  • A degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
  • Experience with industrial hygiene practices such as air monitoring, noise sampling, or silica testing.
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations, EPA compliance, and state-level safety or environmental requirements.
  • Experience using EHS management software or digital reporting tools.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining workplace health and safety programs, policies, and procedures that comply with OSHA and company standards.
  • Conduct regular inspections, audits, and risk assessments focused on foundry-specific hazards such as molten metal, silica exposure, high heat, and heavy machinery.
  • Maintain and update critical safety programs, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Respiratory Protection, Hazard Communication, PPE requirements, Confined Space Entry, Hot Work, and Electrical Safety.
  • Lead or support industrial hygiene monitoring activities, including noise, silica, and air-quality sampling.
  • Coordinate and deliver safety training, including new-hire orientation, hazard communication, PPE usage, and emergency response, ensuring employees and contractors understand foundry-specific risks.
  • Track and maintain accurate training records and certification requirements.
  • Facilitate safety meetings, toolbox talks, and daily communications that reinforce safe work behaviors.
  • Lead incident investigations using root-cause analysis and develop corrective actions that strengthen long-term risk reduction.
  • Maintain documentation for near misses, injuries, and safety observations and prepare reports for leadership and regulatory review.
  • Support internal and external audits, maintain safety metrics, and ensure accurate OSHA and regulatory documentation.
  • Participate in emergency response planning and drills.
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and leadership teams to identify improvement opportunities and support the implementation of engineering and administrative controls.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement across the foundry.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
