About The Position

Lopez Foods in Cherokee, IA is searching for a Safety Coordinator/HR Generalist to join our growing team. This position requires an organized individual, who is self-motivated and can work independently and perform assigned tasks efficiently with minimum supervision. POSITION PURPOSE Primary purpose is to promote environmental safety and health, prevent incidents by enhancing the Company’s loss control efforts. Assists Safety Manager in the implementation and maintenance of policies adhering to local, state and federal environmental, health and safety regulations. Responsibilities include leadership and assisting in the direction of developing a proactive culture where safety is the number one priority. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Advises as to changes necessary to minimize safety risks by collaborating with managers to monitor compliance, identify safety issues; intervene in unsafe activities or operations. Develop and enforce Safety Program Policies (e.g., incident reporting process). Direct incident investigation procedures and keep records of safety-related incidents; propose corrective actions. Organize and conduct required program training plans. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in an industrial manufacturing setting. Must have supervisory experience in a high volume, fast-paced facility. Previous experience, and/or an undergraduate degree, in safety a plus. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS CPE, CSP or CIH certifications a plus.
