About The Position

The Regional Safety Supervisor is responsible company and safety compliance for the assigned region (WA,OR, ID and UT) and supporting the safety team throughout the company. This position will be a main point of contact for our team members regarding hazardous materials and general safety topics. The Regional Safety Supervisor will be highly engaged with our terminal operations to ensure compliance all federal and states laws and regulations. This role is responsible will work with the Safety Team to minimize risk in all areas.

Requirements

  • Active CDL A with all endorsement's or retired CDL A and willing to reactivate (preferred but not required)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A minimum of basic knowledge in the use of computers and associated office applications
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to read, interpret and comprehend local/state/federal regulations and policies
  • Ability to work effectively with employees at all levels and depts of the organization
  • Work extended and irregular hours as needed, including being available during off hours for emergency events.
  • Be willing to travel within the region as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Understand, interpret and provide guidance on DOT/OSHA/HAZ MAT regulations.
  • Write, review and enforce company safety policies.
  • Conduct safety meetings and training sessions at various terminals.
  • Analyze accident and unsafe act details to find root causes and recommend training and solutions.
  • Respond promptly to employee concerns and provide ongoing support.
  • Serve as a visible leader of Oak Harbor Freight Lines at terminal locations and industry events.
  • Participate on the accident investigation and unsafe act review committees.
  • Encourage, promote and demonstrate safe working practices.
  • Actively participate and represent Oak Harbor Freight Lines with various State Trucking Associations.
  • Respond to emergency events.
  • Complete other work as directed based on company needs including support in other regions.
