About The Position

The Safety & Compliance Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring our fleet remains safe, compliant, and operating efficiently. This position focuses on daily monitoring of drivers and equipment, enforcing safety standards, managing DOT/FMCSA compliance requirements, and supporting drivers and internal teams. You will collaborate closely with drivers, dispatch, operations, and leadership to minimize risk and maintain a strong safety culture across the organization.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience with DOT/FMCSA regulations required.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in dispatching or transportation logistics required.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with GPS tracking or dispatch software preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor Fleet Performance: Track truck locations, routes, and schedules using GPS/dispatch software to ensure on-time performance.
  • Compliance Oversight: Verify driver logs, Hours of Service, and inspection reports to maintain DOT/FMCSA compliance.
  • Safety Enforcement: Ensure adherence to company safety policies and promptly address violations or incidents.
  • Driver Support: Communicate with drivers to provide updates, resolve issues, and reinforce safety and compliance standards.
  • Incident Management: Respond to delays, breakdowns, and emergencies while documenting all actions taken.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate safety, dispatch, and compliance records for audits and reporting.
  • Driver Coaching: Create training programs, monitor and coach drivers on safe driving practices, log accuracy, and HOS compliance to ensure full regulatory compliance.
  • Review and manage ELD compliance reports and violations.
  • Support onboarding by maintaining driver qualification files, MVRs, Clearinghouse results, and required training.
  • Assist with accident reporting, and documentation, when necessary.
  • Provide compliance status updates to operations and leadership.
