About The Position

We are seeking a Safeguards and Security Specialist Energy to join our Team in Oak Ridge, TN. Your role Stops work without fear of reprisal for unsafe conditions potentially affecting personnel safety or environmental risk. Assists the NMC&A Manager in the development of NMC&A programs, plans, procedures, and internal self-assessments. Creates NMC&A statistical control charts and measurement peer reviews. Serves as Alternate Tamper Indicating Device (TID) Custodian. Enters nuclear material records data into Loca Area Nuclear Material Accountability Software (LANMAS). Designs and submits transactions and reports to the Nuclear Material Management and Safeguards System (NMMSS). Records and complies data to complete NMC&Z logs, reports, and other written information. Knowledgeable in NMC&A reports such as Nuclear Materials Management Plan (NMMP) and Nuclear Materials Integration Assessment (NMIA). Assists the NMC&A Manager in providing regulatory and policy guidance relative to NMC&A for internal and external audits. Acts on behalf of the NMC&A Manager in his/her absence. Assists the NMC&A Manager in the performance of special nuclear material (SNM) accounting functions, manages inventory, and reconciling inventory activities in a timely manner in accordance with the approved NMC&A Plan. Collaborates with other Department of Energy (DOE) sites to submit Authorizations to Ship and DOE/NRC Form 741, Nuclear Material Transaction Forms. Works with Waste Management and Operations to track debris drums. Assists NMC&A Manager on Semi-Annual Review of Daily Administrative Checks and the NMC&A TID Program. Collaborates with Material Balance Area (MBA) Custodians to complete NMC&A source documentation for LANMAS data entry. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Requires Bachelor’s Degre preferably in a Security-related or accounting Field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in NMC&A field preferred.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Human Reliability Program Certification.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DOE “Q” access authorization.
  • Ability to apply statistical concepts to NMC&A.
  • Strong attention to details required.
  • Ability to perform self-assessments and validate program compliance.
  • Ability to perform nuclear materials controls including but not limited to surveillance, access, inventory sampling, and monitoring.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Strong communication, verbal and written skills.
  • Applicants selected will be subject to a federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter.
  • US Citizenship required for Atkins Global Isotek Systems project positions.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen in order to be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years’ experience in DOE preferred.
  • LANMAS or NMMSS experience preferred.
  • Detailed knowledge of DOE NMC&A requirements as defined in DOE orders and standards preferred.
