About The Position

The Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) Program Director provides strategic leadership, program oversight, and operational management of the AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP program, which engages adults age 55 and older in meaningful volunteer service. The Director ensures compliance with AmeriCorps regulations, drives community impact, manages staff and partnerships, and advances priorities such as healthy futures, economic opportunity, and aging in place. The role reports to the Executive Director of MCOA.

Requirements

  • Effective oral and written communication.
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships and develop partnerships.
  • Ability to adapt quickly and excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Grant compliance and regulatory knowledge.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Completion of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in human services, public administration or a related field or equivalent years of experience.
  • 3 years or more of experience in program management or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of aging networks and community-based programming.

Nice To Haves

  • Bi-lingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of RSVP programming aligned with local priorities and federal performance measures.
  • Oversee equitable recruitment, onboarding, and retention of volunteers aged 55+.
  • Monitor volunteer placements and satisfaction.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with community organizations, and government agencies.
  • Supervise program staff, coordinators, and support personnel.
  • Evaluate program activities and outcomes, implementing best practices and innovations to enhance delivery.
  • Advocate for the needs of older adults and raise awareness of available resources for MCOA.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned for MCOA.
