About The Position

This position is located in Springfield, MO Are you an RRT with neonatal/ pediatric critical care experience looking for a leadership role? This is an exciting role that will be responsible for the day to day operations for the transport respiratory therapists as well as their education and clinical work. 40 hour a week position This position will require travel between rural hospitals in Springfield, MO and St. Louis Overview St. Louis Children's Hospital is dedicated to improving the health and lives of children. Role Purpose Plans, directs, and coordinates activities for all respiratory care services provided including overseeing staffing and workloads under the supervision of the Patient Care Manager. Fulfills all requirements and responsibilities of the Supervisor RRT Critical Care Transport, demonstrating a high level of expertise and scientific knowledge including best practices and serves as a resource to others. Acts as a liaison with other departments to facilitate quick resolution of issues to ensure patients are provided safe and effective care. Responsible for oversight of the Transport Team RRT's including but not limited to daily operations, education, and acts as a liaison to the Manager. Demonstrates expertise and critical thinking skills to assess and evaluate patient's physical, psychosocial and emotional needs of the most critical patients. Must have experience providing care in one of the following: NICU/PICU/Pediatric Emergency Room. Travel to St. Louis and Cahokia base required.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages & evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
  • Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.
  • Holds self-accountable and seeks out opportunities for continuous learning and feedback and is able to perform multiple related duties, prioritizing and applying effective time management.
  • Provides oversight for daily respiratory care operational activities that support patient care by determining level of staffing needs. Is able to collect and analyze information to project staffing plans for upcoming shift/shifts.
  • Effectively communicates by participating in the exchange of information including serving as a resource to others. Serves as a liaison between leadership, staff, medical team, patients and families.
  • Works effectively in a team-based environment especially during stressful situations involving quickly changing priorities. Is able to analyze critical situations and applies appropriate judgement and critical thinking for problems resolution.
  • Performs and coordinates various diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory procedures according to established standards, procedures, guidelines and policies. Applies respiratory knowledge and demonstrates a high level of clinical expertise serving as a resource to staff by providing guidance and education.
  • Demonstrates expertise and critical thinking skills to assess and evaluate patient's physical, psychosocial and emotional needs of the most critical patients. Provides critical care in NICU/PICU/Heart Center.
  • Technical Skills (must meet 1 of the following):-ECMO Specialist-Bronchoscopy Team-Newborn Transport Team-VDR Team-Sleep Lab Technician-AECBJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.
