About The Position
The Rose Care Specialist position at Witherspoon Rose Culture in Durham, NC, is a full-time role reporting to an Area Rose Service Manager. This role is responsible for the comprehensive care and maintenance of rose gardens, which includes tasks such as mulching, weeding, fertilizing, spraying, digging, and planting. The specialist will also be involved in mixing and applying various treatments like fertilizers, herbicides, or insecticides to rose bushes. Additionally, the role supports the design and installation of new rose gardens, prepares new garden beds, and assists in pulling bushes for planting, while also recommending rose replacements to the Route Leader when necessary. Daily operations involve operating company vehicles and a variety of lawn care tools and equipment. The specialist will assist the Route Leader with daily vehicle preparation, including cleaning, fueling, and loading tools and materials. They are also responsible for loading and transporting various materials such as fertilizer, mulch, soil mix, irrigation supplies, and bone meal. During spray season, maintaining water tanks and ensuring sprayer motors have proper gas and oil levels is also a key duty. Customer service is an important aspect, requiring the specialist to follow directions from the Route Leader to service customer gardens and adhere to established communication protocols to ensure an excellent customer experience. Professional development is encouraged through attending staff meetings and continuously expanding knowledge of rose care. All completed work must be reported to the supervisor. The company offers a $500 sign-on bonus, paid on-the-job training, a full benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, paid time off, and a monthly performance bonus. There are opportunities for promotion and pay raises after a successful 90-day probation period. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, with 8 or 10-hour shifts depending on the season, and overtime opportunities are available. Candidates must pass a background check and be able to lift 75 lbs.

Responsibilities
- Care for rose gardens by mulching, weeding, fertilizing, spraying, digging & planting
- Mix and spray or spread fertilizers, herbicides, or insecticides onto rose bushes
- Assist with design and installation of rose gardens
- Prepare new gardens and assist in pulling bushes for planting
- Recommend replacement of roses to Route Leader as needed
- Operate vehicles and various lawn care tools/equipment
- Assist Route Leader with daily vehicle preparation (cleaning, fueling, loading tools and materials)
- Load and transport materials including fertilizer, mulch, soil mix, irrigation supplies, and bone meal
- During spray season, maintain water tanks and ensure sprayer motors have proper gas and oil levels
- Take direction from Route Leader to service each customer's garden
- Follow established communication protocols to ensure excellent customer experience
- Attend staff meetings and continuously expand knowledge of rose care
- Report completion of all work to supervisor
