About The Position

At Dollywood Parks & Resorts, we create memories worth repeating. We do this every day at Dollywood Resorts, which include over 600 rooms and 15 Food & Beverage outlets, all located in the Great Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee. Our future plans include growing our resort footprint to over 1200 rooms across five resorts at Dollywood. We are seeking a Rooms Division Intern for Dollywood Resorts who will embody the heart and soul of our mission of creating memories worth repeating while caring deeply about our brand. We want to work alongside someone who acts as an extension of our mission, values, and culture. This individual is driven to create meaningful experiences for our hosts, guests, and community while ensuring the success and profitability of our unique offerings. They also bring fun, authenticity, collaboration, creativity, and genuine hospitality to their life and work. We seek an individual who can bring the vision of the resorts to life. The right Rooms Division Intern checklist will include equal parts curious learner, innovator, administrator, detail driver, mentor, and motivator. Under the direction of the Rooms Division Manager, to whom the intern reports, the intern will be immersed in the guest operations of a world-class resort with exposure to all different aspects of the resort. Intern will support the guest operations of Housekeeping, laundry, front desk, tickets, and valet/bell stand, management, and administrative duties within Dollywood's DreamMore Resort, Heartsong Resort, and Lodge. In turn, the intern will satisfactorily complete individual program requirements to satisfy college/university credit and/or course study requirements if needed. Requirements

  • Required 3.00 GPA
  • Must be a student entering their third year (at the least) at a university or educational institution
  • Must currently be enrolled in a related college degree program that will allow the above experience to count as an internship for credit or is relevant to the internship
  • Must have proficient to advanced level of experience with common office software and applications, including Microsoft applications and internet browsers
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be able to successfully pass a background check and drug screen
  • Must be self-motivated and disciplined
  • Able to project Dollywood's image by being genuinely friendly and caring and by taking pride in their work.
  • Must be able to prioritize and complete work assignments on a timely basis
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality and judgment regarding privileged information

Responsibilities

  • Attend Leadership development classes.
  • Attend weekly intern meetings to discuss jobs of the week and learn about the different functions of a resort
  • Answer phones, relay messages, greet visitors with a high level of professionalism.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with the current Operations Team in addition to different resort teams.
  • Train and work in below sections of internship:
  • Housekeeping - To properly clean and supply all assigned guest rooms and other areas as designed. Assist with preparation for daily work assignments and team success.
  • House Attendant - Responsible to clean and supply all assigned areas, including room attendant carts, storage rooms, and public areas. Provide support to the housekeeping department by running supplies as needed to housekeeping and guests upon request. Maintain all floors in a clean and safe manner
  • Public Space Attendant - To ensure the cleanliness of all public areas including restrooms, corridors, lobby, game-room and hotel offices
  • Room Inspector - Responsible for the inspection of all areas in a unit and public spaces as assigned. Other responsibilities include the proper inspection of all linens and amenities for the unit, assistance with weekly, monthly inventory and dispatch duties
  • Laundry- Exposed to basic operation of off-site laundry, processing 307 rooms of linen, food and beverage linen and pool towels. Also understand basic PAR levels needed to effectively maintain linen flow
  • Front Desk Host - Assist Resort guests with any needs or questions that arise during check-in and check-out while providing a personalized and excellent customer service. Efficient and courteous operation of all front desk duties and responsibilities, adhere to company policy and procedures
  • Bell and Valet Attendant - Assist guests with a variety of needs during their stay. To provide optimal standards of service and hospitality through anticipating and fulfilling all guests' needs in relation to transportation operations
  • Ticket Sales Host - This position exists to greet Guests and initiate friendly interaction while providing the Guest with a high level of service excellence and information about tickets and the park which exceeds expectations
  • Participate in shadowing opportunity with upper-level management
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality at all times
