About The Position

This position is a Room Service Assistant (Call Center) at the Broadway Campus. Scheduled hours are 3-7pm varying days and includes rotating weekends and holidays. The role involves performing a variety of duties related to food service for patients, serving meals and snacks professionally, ensuring rotation and maintenance of floor supplies, and delivering appropriate room service menus. The assistant instructs patients on meal ordering systems and assesses their ability to use them. Communication with nursing staff, nutrition techs, dietitians, and call center staff is essential. The role also involves using computerized diet sheets, accessing patient computer systems, retrieving completed meals, and recording intake and calorie count information. Compliance with HACCP guidelines is maintained. Meal orders from patients and visitors are obtained, transcribed, and processed over the telephone, verifying that they meet diet order parameters and providing appropriate menus. Excellent customer service, listening skills, and effective communication with co-workers, supervisors, and nursing staff are required, along with establishing effective working relationships and evaluating/maintaining quality control standards.

Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of duties involved with food service for patients.
  • Serves meals and snacks to patients in a professional manner.
  • Ensures rotation of floor supplies and maintains supplies up to PAR (Periodic Automatic Replenishment) levels.
  • Delivers appropriate room service menus to patients, instructing patients on meal ordering systems.
  • Assesses patients’ ability to utilize the meal order system.
  • Communicates effectively, timely and often with nursing staff, nutrition techs, dietitians and call center staff.
  • Uses computerized diet sheets, accesses patient computer system, and retrieves completed meals from patients' rooms and records intake and calorie count information.
  • Maintains compliance with all Hazardous Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines.
  • Obtains, transcribes and processes meal orders from patients and visitors over the telephone, verifying that meal orders meet diet order parameters.
  • Provides appropriate menu for diet.
  • Possesses excellent customer service skills continuously.
  • Displays listening skills and effectively communicates with co-workers, supervisors and nursing staff.
