About The Position

This position is for a PRN (as needed) Room Service Assistant at the Broadway Campus, performing a variety of duties involved with food service for patients. The role includes serving meals and snacks to patients in a professional manner, ensuring rotation of floor supplies, and maintaining supplies up to PAR (Periodic Automatic Replenishment) levels. The assistant delivers appropriate room service menus to patients, instructing them on meal ordering systems, and assessing their ability to utilize the system. The role requires effective, timely, and frequent communication with nursing staff, nutrition techs, dietitians, and call center staff. Responsibilities also involve using computerized diet sheets, accessing the patient computer system, retrieving completed meals from patients' rooms, and recording intake and calorie count information. The assistant must maintain compliance with all Hazardous Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines. A key part of the job is obtaining, transcribing, and processing meal orders from patients and visitors over the telephone, verifying that meal orders meet diet order parameters, and providing appropriate menus for specific diets. The position demands excellent customer service skills, strong listening skills, effective communication with co-workers, supervisors, and nursing staff, and the ability to establish effective working relationships. The assistant is also responsible for evaluating and maintaining quality control standards.
