About The Position

This position is a Room Service Assistant (Call Center) at the Broadway Campus. The role involves performing a variety of duties related to food service for patients, including serving meals and snacks in a professional manner. The assistant is responsible for ensuring the rotation and maintenance of floor supplies to PAR (Periodic Automatic Replenishment) levels. Key tasks include delivering appropriate room service menus to patients, instructing them on meal ordering systems, and assessing their ability to use these systems. The role requires effective and timely communication with nursing staff, nutrition techs, dietitians, and call center staff. The assistant will use computerized diet sheets, access the patient computer system, retrieve completed meals from patients' rooms, and record intake and calorie count information. Compliance with Hazardous Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines is essential. The position also involves obtaining, transcribing, and processing meal orders from patients and visitors over the telephone, verifying that orders meet diet parameters, and providing appropriate menus. Excellent customer service skills, listening skills, and the ability to effectively communicate and establish working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and nursing staff are crucial. The assistant will also evaluate and maintain quality control standards.

Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of duties involved with food service for patients
  • Serves meals and snacks to patients in a professional manner
  • Ensures rotation of floor supplies and maintains supplies up to PAR (Periodic Automatic Replenishment) levels
  • Delivers appropriate room service menus to patients, instructing patients on meal ordering systems
  • Assesses patients’ ability to utilize the meal order system
  • Communicates effectively, timely and often with nursing staff, nutrition techs, dietitians and call center staff
  • Uses computerized diet sheets, accesses patient computer system, and retrieves completed meals from patients' rooms and records intake and calorie count information
  • Maintains compliance with all Hazardous Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines
  • Obtains, transcribes and processes meal orders from patients and visitors over the telephone, verifying that meal orders meet diet order parameters
  • Provides appropriate menu for diet
  • Evaluates and maintains quality control standards
