As a Rolling Stock Systems Commissioning Specialist, you’ll bring cutting-edge trains to life by commissioning, diagnosing, and fixing complex electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems. A day in the life You start your shift walking the line of newly built coaches and locomotives. A unit is ready for power-up — you verify safety, connect test gear, and bring systems online. When a fault appears, you dive into schematics, pull your PTU’s, and isolate the issue. You document findings, repair the root cause, validate with diagnostic equipment, and return the vehicle to the program on schedule — collaborating with teammates from multiple disciplines along the way.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2+ years of hands-on electrical testing experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in electrical troubleshooting.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree in engineering, mechatronics, or similar (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Commission electrical and mechanical systems on locomotive and coach cars.
  • Troubleshoot, document, and repair electrical and mechanical failures.
  • Operate state-of-the-art diagnostic and test equipment.
  • Follow company and industry safety standards without compromise.
  • Communicate procedures, technical findings, and recommendations clearly in writing and verbally.
  • Work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Read and interpret written and electronic schematics.
  • Use PTU’s to troubleshoot various systems onboard rail vehicles.
