About The Position

The Renewable Gas Field Service Technician operates, maintains, and troubleshoots renewable gas systems and equipment across multiple facilities. This role demands high physical mobility, rapid response to malfunctions, safety risks, and hazardous conditions—including severe weather—and requires short-notice travel to ensure site safety and operational continuity.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and safety protocols
  • Basic PLC systems, Analog/Digital I/O, RTD probes
  • Basic electrical knowledge (24V DC, 120V AC, 480V AC)
  • Basic troubleshooting of 480V motors and VFDs
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and P&ID drawings
  • Ability to follow technical documentation and work instructions
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Independent work, time management, and task prioritization
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • High self-motivation and initiative
  • Physical agility/endurance for industrial sites (stairs, ladders, confined spaces, uneven terrain)
  • Situational awareness and composure in hazardous/time-sensitive environments
  • Prolonged standing
  • Frequent stair/ladder climbing
  • Lifting up to 75 lbs
  • Handling hazardous materials
  • Outdoor work in all weather, including extreme heat, cold, and severe events
  • Required PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, air masks, hearing protection)
  • On-call rotation for rapid incident response
  • High-stress/emergency response to gas hazards or mechanical failures
  • Rapid deployment between sites under unpredictable conditions
  • 4+ years of experience with industrial equipment
  • 2+ years of experience in industrial maintenance
  • Valid U.S. work authorization
  • Valid driver’s license

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with wastewater or gas processing systems (preferred)
  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor renewable gas compression/decompression facilities, including rotating equipment, gas monitoring/metering systems, compressors, and delivery systems.
  • Troubleshoot failures to identify root causes; perform repairs, maintenance, or component replacement.
  • Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance on mechanical systems (pumps, compressors).
  • Maintain, modify, and repair instrumentation/control equipment (recorders, flowmeters, analyzers, etc.).
  • Lead on-site coordination of operational and maintenance activities.
  • Record/analyze operational data; deliver daily, weekly, and monthly reports on trends, availability, and production.
  • Collect samples for quality testing and maintain compliance records.
  • Keep facilities clean and organized.
  • Assist with process-control improvements for efficiency.
  • Respond immediately to urgent issues (gas leaks, mechanical failures, weather disruptions) to protect safety and system integrity.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
