About The Position

A registered professional nurse employed by Erlanger Health System is responsible for the practice of nursing and tele-nursing according to the rules and regulations defined by the state's Nurse Practice Act, Erlanger's Models of Care/Practice, policies and procedures. The nurse is responsible for participation in and completion of all patient safety initiatives appropriate to the position. The individual must have knowledge and be able to articulate pharmacological drugs as ordered, procedures, and equipment necessary for patient care. Individuals must have the ability to communicate effectively with nurses providing primary patient care, staff physicians, and other departments concerning all aspects of patient care. The nurse is responsible for virtual care coordination and delivery across multiple telehealth service lines within the Erlanger Health System. The nurse will use their clinical experience to field telehealth consult requests and triage them to the appropriate clinical department while ensuring that appropriate audio-video connectivity is in-tact. This will include both on-demand and scheduled services that require critical thinking and organization skills. The nurse must maintain and promote an attitude of professionalism as reflected by courteous actions, maintenance of confidentiality and appropriate presentation of self; consistently demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills; possess the knowledge and skills necessary to provide interactive communications appropriate to the age of the patient being served.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
  • De-escalation training, if applicable.
  • Possesses a minimum of 5 years' experience in acute care nursing.
  • Must have knowledge of general nursing principles and practice skills; knowledge of organizations functions, policies, and regulations; and knowledge of current trends and new developments.
  • Must be well organized and methodical.
  • Should possess a general knowledge of Zoom and/or other audio-video technologies as applicable to conduct telehealth visits.
  • Current license to practice in the State of Tennessee.
  • BLS completed prior to going to the unit/department and maintained going forward.
  • Tennessee licensure or multistate licensure from a compact state must be obtained within three months of hire for non-Tennessee residents.

  • Implements the plan of care and identifies resources to meet patient care needs.
  • Identifies and communicates changes in patient conditions that may impact unit staffing levels or the provision of safe patient care.
  • Contributes to a healthy work environment by exhibiting professional behaviors and seeking assistance in addressing interpersonal conflicts.
  • Takes responsibility for meeting education and mandatory programs by completing hospital and unit-based competencies.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and contributes positively to unit-based performance improvement outcomes.
  • Updates their individual matrix with specific information to reflect accomplishments.
