Individuals within this job classification are accountable for assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting care activities in accordance with OSUMC standards in order to deliver efficient, effective, and quality patient care. The Registered Nurse (RN) must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. This individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span, possess the ability to access data reflective of the patient's status, interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs. He/She is expected to adhere to and abide by the rules and regulations set forth by the Oklahoma Nursing Practice Act.This position supervises, identifies, recommends, participates in and supervises opportunities for improvement in the services provided. This position provides technical support and direction to assigned personnel. They act as a clinical resource person for the staff and assists management in determining staffing needs. They are a communication link between staff, patients, physicians and others. The position facilitates problem resolution and assesses quality of care provided identifying staff strengths and weaknesses, and assists with evaluation of staff performance as necessary. Interfacing with physicians and customer service representatives for surgeon preferences is critical to the success of this position.
