About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct patient care to assigned patients, utilizing the nursing process. The RN practices within the limits of the Nurse Practice Act of the State of Arkansas and adheres to institutional policies, procedures, and standards. This position may float to or assist any of the IMSL clinics as needed. The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is Arkansas’ only comprehensive academic health sciences center, combining education, research, and clinical programs. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program with an Associate's Degree, Nursing Diploma, Bachelor's in Nursing, or Master's in Nursing
  • Valid RN License
  • Minimum of 1 year Registered Nursing experience
  • Ability to perform point-of-care testing, draw and collect blood specimens, and prepare for laboratory processing

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of 1 year of phlebotomy
  • BLS (CPR) Certification.
  • Two years of experience in an ambulatory care setting

Responsibilities

  • Collects and documents assessment data from patients and/or others per UAMS standard.
  • Develops patient's Plan of Care (POC) per department/unit standards utilizing assessment data.
  • Evaluates the progress of patients toward attainment of desired outcomes.
  • Administers medication following department/unit standards and the Nurse Practice Act.
  • Verifies and evaluates care delivered to ensure it is consistent with patient and family-centered care principles, practice standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Supports the integration of current evidence into nursing practices.
  • Promotes an environment conducive to positive educational experience for all students and staff.
  • Provides effective patient/family education/discharge planning.
  • Effectively collaborates and communicates with nursing staff at all levels, interdisciplinary teams, executive leaders, and other stakeholders.
  • Communicates care appropriately through documentation in the medical record.
  • Reports variances in care/ systems/ processes through the appropriate means.
  • Participates in the recruitment/retention of staff.
  • Facilitates development and implementation of nursing practice standards that are evidence-based and in compliance with ANA standards.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
